About Sophia

Sophia Garcia is a young upcoming photographer from New Mexico. She has only been pursuing photography for a little over three years and has been expanding her knowledge ever since. Sophia specializes in close-up photography, black and white and still life. Since the beginning, she has found great inspiration in nature and music. She has been playing flute for six years and loves to incorporate her talent in photography. Going on outdoor adventures and making music for the world is where her journey began and how it will continue to grow.
Sophia won first place in the digital photography category of the Metro Youth Art Exhibit as well as second place in the Focus on Youth Art Exhibit at the Albuquerque Museum. In 2022, Sophia won the Rocky Mountain Student Production Award for Best Photographer in the Rocky Mountain Regional Emmy® Awards. She was also awarded one honorable mention, Two Silver Keys and One Gold Key in the Regional Scholastic awards, |
Artist Statement
As a young artist, I like to portray the world how I find it beautiful. Giving others the chance to
see their world through my lens. I often find inspiration in my everyday life. I document the
interests of those around me, providing a description of not only myself but of others. I think of
how I can pull someone into the ordinary, and make them see it differently. For five years now
I’ve shown an interest in music. By playing various instruments and being in many different
ensembles. By incorporating music into my photography, I can show people the feeling you get
to be a part of something so great. And possibly inspire others to find their own artistic passion
just how I found mine.
